Designed by Eugenie Niarchos for Venyx World, this torque necklace interprets Man Ray’s Larmes (Tears, c. 1932). The iconic Surrealist photograph—a close-up of a model’s upturned face, with glass beads standing in for her tears—channels the melodrama of silent film. For this piece, Niarchos combined mother-of-pearl, 5 carats of brilliant diamonds, enamel, and black rhodium to create the centerpiece of a white gold torque encircled by pavé diamonds. She revisits the ancient necklace form of the torque, transforming it into a beautiful, wearable work of art.
